Description: | From Vermont State Fair Website: The Vermont State fair was originally named the Rutland State Fair and started out being only a one day event located somewhere in Rutland County. The first fair took place in a field near Castleton with Fredrick Button being the first President of the Rutland County Agricultural Society.
In 1972 The Rutland Fair became officially the "Vermont State Fair".
The Fair has had top name entertainers that included Loretta Lynn, Buck Owens, Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Conway Twitty, Ronnie Milsap, Charlie Pride, Tayna Tucker, Travis Tritt, Charlie Daniels Band, Vince Gill, and Scotty McCreery.
The correct wording for the fair is The Rutland County Agricultural Society, Inc. d/b/a as the Vermont State Fair.
The first Vermont State Fair took place in 1846 making it one of the oldest state fairs in the United States.
